experimental models used for the study of orthopoxvirus infections. The biological characteristics and pathogenesis of orthopoxviruses are discussed, including mechanisms of replication, immune evasion, and interspecies transmission. Particular attention is paid to the relevance of these studies in connection with the increasing incidence of zoonotic infections caused by monkeypox virus, camelpox virus, cowpox virus, and other representatives of the genus Orthopoxvirus. An analysis of current in vitro and in vivo models used to investigate viral pathogenesis, replication, evaluation of antiviral drugs, and vaccine development is provided. The cultural properties of various orthopoxviruses in Vero, RK-13, CV-1, HaCaT, and other cell lines are described. The advantages and limitations of models involving primates, mice, rabbits, prairie dogs, and alternative reservoir species are considered. It is shown that the combined use of in vitro and in vivo systems represents the most effective approach for studying orthopoxvirus infections, developing vaccines and antiviral agents, and assessing potential epidemiological risks.</p>
Показано, что комбинированное применение in vitro и in vivo систем является наиболее эффективным подходом для изучения ортопоксвирусных инфекций, разработки вакцин и противовирусных средств, а также оценки потенциальных эпидемиологических рисков.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>orthopoxviruses</kwd><kwd>in vitro</kwd><kwd>in vivo</kwd><kwd>monkeypox virus</kwd><kwd>experimental models</kwd><kwd>cell cultures</kwd><kwd>pathogenesis</kwd><kwd>antiviral drugs</kwd><kwd>vaccines</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>ортопоксвирусы</kwd><kwd>in vitro</kwd><kwd>in vivo</kwd><kwd>вирус оспы обезьян</kwd><kwd>экспериментальные модели</kwd><kwd>клеточные культуры</kwd><kwd>патогенез</kwd><kwd>противовирусные препараты</kwd><kwd>вакцины</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><award-group><funding-source><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="ru">Министерство науки и высшего образования Республики Казахстан</institution></institution-wrap><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="en">Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan</institution></institution-wrap></funding-source><award-id>ИРН BR28712529</award-id></award-group><funding-statement xml:lang="en">This work was carried out as part of the scientific and technical program Development of Means for the Specific Prevention and Diagnosis of Monkeypox (IRN BR28712529), funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа была выполнена в рамках научно-технической программы на тему «Разработка средств специфической профилактики и диагностики оспы обезьян» ИРН BR28712529, финансируемая Министерством науки и высшего образования Республики Казахстан.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Alonso R.C., Moura P.P., Caldeira D.F., Mendes M.H., Pinto M.H., Cargnelutti J.F., et al.
